If Then She Can Statue Exhibit
Arlyne Simon designs ultrasound machines and writes the Abby Invents picture book series to inspire kid inventors
"If I can inspire just one child to pursue STEAM that means I have helped improve STEAM’s diversity numbers. I want little brown girls to know that they, too, can be inventors. That’s why I made Abby improve the design of something that all kids are familiar with – CRAYONS!" (SistasinSTEM)
Invent. Write. Inspire! Biomedical Engineer, Dr. Arlyne Simon, is a #womaninSTEM that is part of the small 12% of patented women inventors. She invented a blood test that detects when cancer patients reject a bone marrow transplant. Woah!
Arlyne works at Intel, designing technology for medical imaging products like ultrasounds and CT scans. That means she helps doctors see inside our bodies better! Arlyne is also a children's book author. She writes the Abby Invents picture book series and hopes her stories empower the next-generation of female scientists and engineers.
